Lincoln museum extends deadline to guess day of millionth visitor

SPRINGFIELD - Officials at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum have extended the deadline for guessing when the one-millionth person will visit the museum honoring the 16th president.The millionth visitor was expected by the end of 2006. But the early December snowstorm slowed attendance, prompting officials to extend the contest entry deadline to Jan. 5, museum spokeswoman Jill Burwitz said.As of Christmas Eve, attendance at the museum, which opened in April 2005, was 987,470. Burwitz said the museum hopes to receive the millionth visitor by the end of January.The winner will receive two one-year passes to the museum and a $100 gift certificate to the museum gift store.
