'Souls' opens spring season on campuspring 2007 gallery lineup to ...

A mixed-media work titled "Beneath My Souls" by Vicksburg artist Lesley Silver opens the spring 2007 gallery lineup at Jackson County campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Titled "Beneath My Souls," the show will be up through Feb. 16 and hold its opening reception at 6 p.m. Thursday with a gallery talk by the artist at 6:30. Silver has owned the Attic Gallery in Vicksburg for 35 years. She attended her first workshop in 1984 at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. Her artistic expression, primarily in photography, became more experimental, she said, with each decade until the 2003 death of her mother, Ocean Springs artist Klara Koock. Silver said that when she began to use her mother's paint brushes, it seemed to kindle an exploration of painting in her work.
